Criminal proceedings in practice

The classroom as a conference room

Would you like to slip into the role of a judge, a public prosecutor or a defense lawyer?
In the course "Criminal Procedure in Practice (Vigilante Justice: The Classroom as a Trial Room)", you change roles after each case, i.e. everyone is a judge, a public prosecutor and a defense attorney. In addition, there is the option of playing a witness or a defendant.

The procedure: After an introductory session, the students are divided into three groups. Using real (anonymized) court files, they conduct realistic main hearings in four cases and reach a verdict.

The aim of the course is to give students a realistic idea of criminal proceedings. The requirements for criminal judges, public prosecutors and defense lawyers during the main hearing are highlighted.
