Study options, specializations, supplementary subjects and additional courses at the Institute of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Criminology
At the beginning of the degree course in Law (22W), Criminal Law is also included in Module A with the course "Introduction to Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law". This is a 3 ECTS lecture in which the basic principles of substantive and formal criminal law are taught. Module E deepens students' understanding of criminal law and criminal procedural law: The lecture "Substantive Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law" (9 ECTS) and the course "Case Solving Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law" (5 ECTS) must be completed. The prerequisite for this is the positive completion of the courses "The Legal Case as an Introduction to the Law" (VU, 1.5 ECTS) and "Introduction to Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law". This module also includes the VO "History of Criminal Law" (1.5 ECTS).
In the doctoral program in Law (09W), "Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure" or "Criminology" can be chosen as a dissertation subject. Two doctoral colloquia must be attended in the dissertation subject. Alternatively, they can also be chosen as a specialization subject, in which three seminars must be attended (e.g. dissertation subject "Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law" and specialization subject "Criminology").
In the Bachelor's degree program in Business Law for Technical Professions (22W), the lecture "Introduction to Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law" (3 ECTS) must be attended in Module A. In Module I, the VU "Commercial Criminal Law" (3 ECTS) must be completed. Passing modules A, C and E is a prerequisite for the VU.
