Head of the Department Univ.-Prof. Dr.iur. Mag.art. Hannes Schütz
The legal rules on how to deal with serious misconduct by individuals in society are a constant subject of discussion and critical debate. The staff at the Department research and teach on numerous questions of substantive and formal criminal law (criminal law, criminal procedure law and penal law) and on questions of criminology. Current areas of focus include medical criminal law, commercial criminal law, IT criminal law and sports law. The Hans Gross Center for Interdisciplinary Criminal Sciences (ZiK) was recently founded with the aim of linking criminalistics, criminology and forensic issues.
